Relaxing and using the hips… “Stanley Pranin teaches tai no henko in Mexico”

This video clip in Spanish presenting the tai no henko exercise was shot in San Miguel de Allende on June 15, 2014 at an aikido seminar conducted by Stanley Pranin, 5th dan. When one is grabbed, there is a tendency to tense the muscles of the arms and shoulders. This is counterproductive in the sense that uke feels nage’s intention because of the tension in the arm. Uke can therefore block virtually any movement that nage attempts due to the latter’s use of physical strength. This demonstration is an attempt to show a relaxed alternative to this approach…
