O-Sensei’s Spiritual Writings: Where did they really come from? by Stanley Pranin”

The published books containing quotations attributed to Morihei Ueshiba available in various Western languages are based on “sanitized” Japanese versions of Morihei’s words. Morihei Ueshiba in Iwama: “Throwing opponents who haven’t the least idea of how they were thrown!”

“The Founder throws his opponents lightly as if dancing and they haven’t the least idea from where the power which has downed them has come. The Founder mastered the secrets of several martial arts including Daito-ryu Jujutsu, Yagyu-ryu, Aioi-ryu and Hozoin-ryu. When he holds a jo or staff, it becomes an Aiki jo. When he holds a ken or sword it becomes an Aiki ken. With his kokyu power he can easily throw his strongest students using their own power.”

“Morihei seizes the initiative thereby dictating the timing and direction of uke’s attack!”
