About Yoshinkan Aikido:

Yoshinkan Aikido was founded by Gozo Shioda in 1955. Shioda learned from Morihei Ueshiba, originator of aikido, as a high school student in prewar Japan. He was one of Ueshiba’s top disciples and the first to disseminate aikido publicly after the War. Despite his diminutive stature, Gozo Shioda was known for his precise technique and incredible timing. The powerful, effective techniques of Yoshinkan Aikido reflect Shioda’s technical genius.
